Chiang Mai<\/strong> bedeutet w\u00f6rtlich \u201eneue Stadt\u201c und hat diesen Namen behalten, obwohl sie 1996 ihr 700-j\u00e4hriges Bestehen feierte. K\u00f6nig Meng Rai der Gro\u00dfe gr\u00fcndete die Stadt am Donnerstag, dem 12. April 1296, als Hauptstadt des K\u00f6nigreichs Lanna, etwa zeitgleich mit der Gr\u00fcndung des K\u00f6nigreichs Sukhothai. K\u00f6nig Meng Rai beriet sich sogar mit seinen Freunden, K\u00f6nig Ramkhamhaeng von Sukhothai und K\u00f6nig Ngam Muang von Phayao, bevor er den Ort ausw\u00e4hlte, an dem die Hauptstadt des K\u00f6nigreichs Lanna gegr\u00fcndet werden sollte. Von da an wurde Chiang Mai nicht nur die Hauptstadt und das kulturelle Zentrum des K\u00f6nigreichs Lanna, es sollte auch das Zentrum des Buddhismus in Nordthailand werden. K\u00f6nig Meng Rai selbst war ein sehr religi\u00f6ser F\u00fchrer, der sogar viele der Tempel der Stadt gr\u00fcndete, die bis zum heutigen Tag von Bedeutung sind.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
